ASCEND Pittsburgh to open new climbing wall facility at Rockwell Park in North Point Breeze

PITTSBURGH — ASCEND Pittsburgh, a home-grown climbing wall venture that started on the South Side, is heading to Rockwell Park, the collection of properties in North Point Breeze being redeveloped into a mixed-use business park.

The company announced the new expansion plan on the ASCEND Pittsburgh website: “The ASCEND Climbing family is about to get a lot bigger with a new location planned for early-mid 2022 in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Point Breeze.”

According to ASCEND, the new facility will be in Rockwell Park and will be 25,000 square feet, featuring 42-foot lead, “top-roping, and auto-belay walls, ample bouldering terrain, a tranquil yoga room, an array of fitness equipment and climbing training tools, slacklines,” along with a retail store.
