CNX Resources, Bettis Brothers and foundation partner to increase diversity in natural gas industry

PITTSBURGH — John Bettis III believes the natural gas industry is missing a huge opportunity to lift local communities and create more profitable companies by increasing minority hiring and business.

“There’s a pool of talent untapped from this entire industry,” said Bettis, who with his brother, Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis, founded Bettis Brothers in 2017 to serve the local natural gas industry. So much work remains to be done in that area in an industry that still doesn’t have a big minority presence, he said.

Bettis hopes that a new partnership forged by Bettis Brothers and the Jerome Bettis Bus Stop Here Foundation with CNX Resources Corp., a major player in southwestern Pennsylvania’s drilling community, will play a role in changing that.
