PITTSBURGH — In March 2018, Shiv Rao left his cardiology practice at UPMC to pursue his startup idea, and on Tuesday officially launched Pittsburgh-based Abridge.
Between a seed round and recent Series A funding round, Abridge raised $15 million, led by Union Square Ventures and its healthcare partner UPMC. The startup, co-founded by Sandeep Konam, saw 50,000 people download its app during a pre-launch period.
“I recognized that this technology has the potential to help so many more people than I could ever see in my weekly clinic,” Rao said.
