PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh ranks as the one of the most expensive U.S. cities for hotel accommodations, according to a new survey.
But the survey from Cheaphotels.org cautions that the results “were heavily skewed by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
With an average hotel rate of $109 per night, Pittsburgh ranks No. 5 in the report on most expensive city destinations. Sacramento, with an average hotel rate of $131 per night, is No. 1. Los Angeles is in the middle of the pack, ranked at No. 26 at $88 a night. Further down on the list is San Francisco, which is No. 44 at $78 per night.
Researchers compared hotel rates across all 36 destinations in the U.S. with populations greater than 500,000 as well as 14 destinations with a population of more than 250,000.
