PITTSBURGH — UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh continues to see an increase in the number of children seeking treatment due to the delta variant of Covid-19 as its physicians urged continued mask wearing and vaccinations as the only way to stop the spread of the virus.
“We’re in a particularly risky phase of the pandemic for children,” said Dr. John Williams, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, during a news conference Wednesday.

“And that includes in the ICU,” Williams said.
Williams said there have been a “modest increase” in the number of Covid-19 patients at UPMC Children’s Hospital outpatient, emergency room and inpatient settings.
