UPMC sees $1B increase in revenue

PITTSBURGH — UPMC crossed over the $24 billion revenue mark in 2021, adding more than $1 billion compared to the year before even as the system continued to see high patient levels due to Covid-19 surges that strained hospitals regionally and nationwide.

The organization, which includes the hospital and provider network plus the insurance division headlined by UPMC Health Plan, saw $24.36 billion in revenue in 2021 compared to $23.09 billion in 2020. Operating income was $843 million in 2021 compared to $878 million in 2020.
