There’s no word yet on how the 20% reduction in the Viatris workforce will impact its global operations center at Southpointe. But the layoffs will close the former Mylan manufacturing plant in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Viatris (NYSE: VTRS) announced the first details of its $1 billion global restructuring, which it said back in November would happen on the same day the merger between Upjohn and Mylan NV (Nasdaq: MYL) had been made official. The Chestnut Ridge oral solid dose manufacturing facility will be shutting down by the middle of 2021. There will be no immediate layoffs at the factory, however. It has about 1,600 employees at Morgantown.
What’s not clear is what will happen at Viatris’ Southpointe offices. Presumably at least some of the reductions could impact the Southpointe but there’s no confirmation.
