Part of Interstate 79 was closed Friday because of a truck crash, a PennDOT official said.

One lane of northbound I-79 is closed to traffic between the Bridgeville exit 54 and Heidelberg/Collier exit 55 interchanges, according to PennDOT press officer Steve Cowan. Officials said the far right lane remained closed as of noon because of a diesel spill.

All lanes were closed for a short time, and drivers are advised to consider alternate routes. The posted detour is to exit I-79 at Bridgeville and to get back on the interstate at Kirwan Heights.

Pennsylvania State Police said a tractor-trailer crashed, then struck a car and hit the overpass.

Bridgeville police posted on their Facebook page that the crash was reported under the Prestley Road overpass. Prestley Road was closed at the overpass for about an hour until an initial PennDOT inspection confirmed it to be safe.

There were no reported injuries. Both drivers refused medial treatment.
