PITTSBURGH,None — Dozens of fake identifications were intercepted by state police as they were being shipped to local college students.
Police said the students ordered the fake IDs from a Hong Kong-based website.
Dozens of students from several local universities were nabbed in the sting, including 20 students from Duquesne University.
Officials said students from Pitt, Beaver County Community College, University of Akron and Kent State were also caught.
State police said the false identification cards were used by the students to drink illegally.
Attorney Blaine Jones said he is representing two of the students. Jones said the students have more to worry about than just the legal charges.
"State troopers are telling me college students who use their own credit cards to get a fake ID from China are putting themselves at incredible risk for identity theft," Jones said.
