There's evidence white wine may increase the risk of melanoma -- the most deadly type of skin cancer.
The new study from Brown University will be published in the journal
[ Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention ]
, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
[ The study followed more than 200,000 adults for an average of 18 years. ]
It showed that each drink per day of white wine increased the risk of melanoma by 13 percent among white men and women.
White wine drinkers were also 7 -percent more likely to be diagnosed with melanomas in parts of the body with less sun exposure than non-drinkers.
Beer, red wine and liquor did not significantly affect melanoma risk.
