CHINA — Chinese engineers unveiled a completed compartment of a futuristic-elevated bus, hoping their new design will help relieve traffic pressure in cities across the country.

Unlike regular buses, the elevated bus stretches over two lanes and has a large space underneath that allows cars to drive below it.

Each bus will have two to four compartments able to carry up to 300 passengers each.

The compartments are easy to add and detach.

The cost to build the rails is only 16 to 20 percent of the cost to build subway routes.

The elevated buses are expected to go to market next year.
