GREENSBURG, Pa.,None — An ex-councilwoman from Westmoreland County will spend two to 10 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a girl, starting at age 12, who the woman coached on a local softball team.
Heather Prinkey, 37, must begin serving her sentence Dec. 1, according to Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE. Monday's sentence completes a plea bargain in which Prinkey pleaded guilty in August to aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and other crimes.
The victim, now 17, told Westmoreland County Judge Debra Ann Pezze she blamed herself for the sexual contact from October 2007 through September 2009.
But the judge told the girl, "None of this is your fault. There was nothing you could have done to make this any different."
Prinkey resigned from North Belle Vernon borough council before her arrest in July 2010.
