PITTSBURGH,None — A former University of Pittsburgh football player will spend two years on probation after being convicted of assaulting his girlfriend last fall.
Ex-defensive back Jeff Knox was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct after he was accused of attacking the girl after learning she was pregnant.
A witness told police that Knox open-hand slapped the woman, forcing her to the ground, then picked her up by her throat and slammed her against a wall.
After the charges came to light, former Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt dismissed Knox from the team. Knox is currently playing for California University of Pennsylvania.
