In the video captured Thursday, the 25-foot Jack-o'-lantern rolls across multiple lanes of traffic before it gets stuck beneath a streetlight pole.
It then breaks free and travels about a quarter of a mile more, bouncing over a wall, rolling through a business parking lot and eventually landing in a neighborhood park.
City officials said strong winds caused the pumpkin to break free from a display promoting a Halloween party.
No one was injured in the great pumpkin escape, but it did cause damage to several street lights.
