Golfer Natalie Gulbis Talks Ex-Boyfriend Roethlisberger Before Oakmont Practice

PITTSBURGH,None — Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's ex-girlfriend and LGPA golfer Natalie Gulbis spoke with Channel 11 Sports reporter Rich Walsh on Wednesday before hitting the links at Oakmont Country Club.

Gulbis, 27, arrived in Pittsburgh on Monday and has been practicing for the U.S. Open, set to take place at Oakmont July 5 through 11.

"Very famous golf course. Just coming here is special," said Gulbis. "I gave it about a week to feel comfortable on this golf course, and my guess, from what I heard, is I don't think a week is going to be enough."

Gulbis was spotted on Tuesday playing a round of golf with Roethlisberger at Laurel Valley.

"He's a great guy. I've known him for four years. He has always been fantastic to me, and we've been friends since before he even started playing for the Steelers," said Gulbis. "I'll continue to cheer for him and the Steelers."

Gulbis said Roethlisberger beat her in their friendly round of match-play on Tuesday.

In 2009, Gulbis appeared on Channel 11 in the second season of "The Celebrity Apprentice."

Roethlisberger is currently serving a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he expects to decide within a week when Roethlisberger can rejoin the Steelers for offseason workouts.

Goodell said Tuesday at the owners meetings that he would soon review the behavioral evaluation he ordered as part of Roethlisberger's suspension.
