WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — Channel 11 has a good traffic alert for thousands of drivers as a heavily traveled Washington County roadway is set to reopen in time for the evening commute.

The intersection of Valleybrook Road and Route 19 is expected to reopen to traffic Thursday afternoon after a reconfiguration project had the road shut down for a year.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for 2:30 p.m. to mark the grand reopening.

This is something that drivers and business owners in the area say they’ve been waiting for.

Officials said 10,000 people pass through the intersection daily. Some people who live in Peters Township said the $4 million project was a waste of money, but PennDOT officials said it was needed because of increased congestion.
