Giant inflatable moon rolls over people, cars

FUZHOU CITY, China — Winds from a typhoon set a giant inflatable moon on the loose Wednesday in China, as people across the country celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The festival is a time when the Chinese enjoy family traditions, admire the moon and eat mooncakes.

Because some people will not be able to see the real moon this year due to Typhoon Meranti, many towns have set up inflatable moons in public areas.

Amateur video shows one such inflatable moon in the country’s southeast coming loose and rolling across a construction site, as well as pedestrians and cars.

In one clip, a woman on an electric bike looks uncertain before she quickly moves out of the moon’s way.

Locals subbed it the “furious moon,” but said it spiced up the festival.
