Mom who had 6 miscarriages celebrates 'rainbow baby' with must-see photo shoot

ROCKY HILL, Conn. — A pregnant Connecticut mom who suffered six miscarriages is welcoming the newest member of her family with a stunning maternity photo shoot.

"I knew I had to do something extra special for her family," Marrero said in an interview with CBS News.

According to the Huffington Post, Jess Mahoney and her husband, Kevin, had their first child, Corbin, four years ago. After Corbin's birth, the couple experienced the painful loss of six pregnancies.

Now, Jess is pregnant with her "rainbow baby," a term for a child "born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss,"according to Kicks Count. And photographer JoAnn Marrero of From Labor to Love knew just how to mark the occasion.

Marrero teamed up with Mary Maloney of Pebbles and Polka Dots Photography for a fiery photo shoot, complete with rainbow smoke bombs and colorful hair dye.

"With each burst of color, we watched this portrait coming to life behind my lens," Marrero told CBS News.

Marrero and Maloney shared the photo on Facebook, where it quickly went viral.

"I am excited and honored to share this beautiful moment and cannot wait for this baby to be born," Marrero wrote. "She will be spoiled for sure!"
