NEW CASTLE, Pa. — An employee covered head to toe in personal protective equipment greets patients as they walk into Refresh Dental in New Castle.
But the office isn’t open only for people who need emergency dental work. It will also be for people who need to get a coronavirus test.

“We had dentists and facilities that were otherwise not being used,” Dr. Andrew Matta said.
Matta said he consulted several hospital groups and believes testing for people will have many benefits to the community. He said the office will be split down the middle with emergency dental patients on one side and coronavirus testing on the other. A doctor’s order will be required to receive a test.
“We’ve piloted it in some of the New York locations and some other states. Now we’re starting to pilot it here. There are a lot of things we’re learning along the way,” Matta said. “I think it’s really important for all businesses, healthcare specifically, to be adaptable and resourceful and try to find solutions.”
