After a decade of searching, a Bethel Park family was reunited with a priceless family heirloom – a baseball signed by Pirates legend Honus Wagner.

The family said it never would have found it if it wasn’t for Jennifer Abney’s inside look at the state’s unclaimed property vault in Harrisburg.

“My wife was absolutely ecstatic.  She called me at work and said, ‘We found the ball. We found the ball,’” said Richard Henry.

Treasurer Rob McCord hand-delivered the priceless sports memorabilia.

“We are so happy to get this back again.  You cannot believe how much we appreciate this,” said Henry.

The Henry’s were also reunited with a long-lost letter written by the Hall of Famer to Henry’s father-in-law.

The baseball had been stored in a safe deposit box at a now defunct Pittsburgh bank.  It eventually ended up in the unclaimed property vault months away from going on the auction block.

Henry plans on insuring and preserving the ball for his grandsons.
