Key Suspect In Fineview Shooting Kills Self

PITTSBURGH,None — A teenager wanted in connection with a homicide in Fineview committed suicide late Friday night, officials said.

Police surrounded a home on Grape Street at about 10:30 p.m., officials said.

Justin Kurington, of Perrysville, fatally shot himself in an upstairs bedroom before SWAT teams arrived, police said.

Police said Kurington was a key suspect in the Fineview homicide Thursday morning.

The shooting happened at about 1:25 a.m. on Sandusky Court at the Allegheny Dwellings housing complex, police said.

Timothy Harris, 18, was shot more than once and was already dead when paramedics arrived at the scene, police said.

Officials said a 21-year-old man also suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks. He is in stable condition at Allegheny General Hospital.

A large crowd of neighbors and relatives of the victims joined detectives and paramedics at the scene when they found out what happened, Pittsburgh police Cmdr. Thomas Stangrecki said.

"It did get a little emotional with friends and family arriving," Stangrecki said. "As you can understand, someone's loved one got shot and killed on a courtyard in Sandusky Court."

This is the second shooting on the same block of Sandusky Court in less than a month. Police said they're working to find out if there is a connection.

Cheryl Gainey is worried about her safety living so close to two separate shootings.

"We want the same protection and the same rights everyone else gets," Gainey said. "For some reason they find a reason to do their shootings up here."

Gainey also said she's been injured twice trying to dodge gunfire.

"I heard the first six, seven, eight shots and I fell out of the bed trying to get out of the way," Gainey said. "I'm in a little bit of pain but I'm feeling all right. I feel a little depressed about this all the time."

No arrests have been made yet.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
