“What I have seen are people pulling together, I've seen some of these social service agencies getting more out of less,” Fitzgerald said.

The Light of Light rescue mission held their annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet. Over 1,000 pounds of turkey, 300 pounds of stuffing and 375 pounds of beans were prepared for people in need.

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald was on hand as well, personally serving guests Thursday.

Following the 1 p.m. dinner, volunteers took meals to residents in 14 area high-rise buildings.

Thanksgiving meals are being served from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
