PITTSBURGH — Snow and freezing rain may have played a role in a fatal accident late Sunday night in the Hill District.

Investigators said the accident was reported on Bigelow Boulevard near Frank Curto Park around 9 p.m.

Officials said 22-year-old Nicole Albright, of Mount Washington, died when the car crashed into a tree and then overturned, landing on the roof. Investigators said Albright was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Albright’s family said she was on her way to a friend’s house at the time of the accident. Police said speed and possible weather conditions played a role in the accident.

Albright’s 2-year-old daughter was in the car at the time of the accident, but was not seriously hurt. The toddler was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital to be checked out for a scratch on her nose. Investigators said the child’s car seat saved her life.
