DORMONT, Pa. — Multiple surrounding fire crews were dispatched early Wednesday morning for a house fire along Broadway Avenue in Dormont.
“Five o’clock in the morning, four o’clock in the morning, manpower is imperative,” said Dormont Fire Chief Jeff Stakich.
Stakich says everyone inside the home at the time of the fire got out safely, though the family was looking for 2 cats. No injuries were reported among fire crews. The fire was reportedly from the attic. The fire chief says the damage inside the home includes water damage, and that early indications may point to a possible electrical fire.
Fire crews from Dormont, Greentree, Mt. Lebanon and Castle Shannon all responded to the fire. Stakich says the large response prevented the fire from damaging the home even further.
“It’s imperative that we have crews on standby ready to go not just to replace the crews that are that are working but to be ready to save those crews if you know, God forbid something happened,” said Stakich.
Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating the exact cause.
