GREENSBURG, Pa. — Two former teacher aides have pleaded guilty to failing to report the mistreatment of students with autism at Nicely Elementary School in the Greensburg Salem School District.
Lauren Byrne-Houser and Amanda Lehman entered the guilty pleas following an investigation.
A total of six people were charged after police reported that the students were mistreated at the school. Prosecutors stated that individuals restrained the students and sprayed lemon juice or soapy water into their mouths or onto their faces.
Byrne-Houser received a sentence of one year of probation for failing to report the abuse. Lehman also admitted guilt to the same non-reporting charge under a plea agreement.
Lehman will be sentenced in a few months as part of her plea agreement.
