PITTSBURGH — The Western Pennsylvania Humane Society has launched an investigation after someone left three puppies and their mother inside a dumpster on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

The Humane Society said Tuesday that a good Samaritan heard the dogs crying and rescued two puppies.

Their mother and the other puppy were already dead.

“Apparently, the dumpster was already dumped by the time the lady brought these animals in,” said Kristen Lane, with the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society. “Since the body of the dog isn't available anymore, it's going to be challenging for us.”

Anyone who knows anything about the person who dumped the dogs is asked to contact the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.

Meanwhile, the two puppies are ready for adoption at the Humane Society on Western Avenue.
