Police announced Sunday afternoon that Payne turned himself in.

Griffin and Payne were wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Lamar Thomas in his barbershop on Stayton Street.

According to the criminal complaint, Griffin and Payne went to the barbershop to buy synthetic marijuana from Thomas.

There was a struggle after the men pulled out a gun, and a witness told police he heard one suspect say, “If [he] moves again, shoot him in the head.”

Family spokesperson Darcel Madkins said the family does not recognize or have any prior connection to the suspects.

Griffin and Payne are both charged with criminal homicide, robbery and criminal conspiracy.
