Service restored after 20-inch water main break in Baldwin

BALDWIN, Pa. — A 20-inch water main break in Baldwin Tuesday evening caused flooding along Becks Run Road and damaged some homeowners’ property.

Investigators confirmed that firefighters and crews from Pennsylvanian American Water were called to the 500 block of North Street around 8 p.m.

A Channel 11 News photographer at the scene reported that a swimming pool was damaged and minor flooding occurred inside one home.

Another family told Channel 11 the water washed away a portion of their backyard onto Becks Run Road.

The break caused water to shoot 20-feet into the air, according to neighbors. Once the water was turned off, a giant hole was visible in the street.

Gary Lobaugh, a spokesman for Pennsylvania American Water, said 25 customers were without service.

Service was restored to those customers shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday.
