Two of the four lanes on the Homestead Grays Bridge in Pittsburgh and Homestead will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, to 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19.
The Allegheny County Department of Public Works says the traffic restrictions are required for an ongoing maintenance project repairing the structure’s spans, piers and deck.
The Homestead Grays Bridge carries more than 40,000 drivers daily. Drivers should expect traffic delays in the area, allow extra travel time or seek alternate routes while construction is underway.
According to county officials, the bridge holds a condition rating of five, which indicates fair condition on a scale from zero to nine under National Bridge Inspection Standards established by the Federal Highway Administration.
Pugliano Construction of Plum is serving as the primary contractor for the $902,594 repair effort.
Following this weekend, lane closures will continue at various locations on the bridge from 9 p.m. on Fridays to 6 a.m. on Mondays until the project is completed on Nov. 16.
