PITTSBURGH — Police said five people were hurt in a head-on crash in Pittsburgh's West End early Thursday morning.

Officials said the accident happened on West Carson Street.

Emergency officials said one of the cars involved caught fire.

Police said five people were taken to the hospital. One person is listed in critical condition.

"There were two unconsious male passengers in the car.  An officer was able to pry the doors open and get both of those passengers out to safety away from the cars," said Chief Robert Cifrulak of McKees Rocks police.
