A Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson says troopers were called to Park Street in Redstone Township around 12:30 p.m. for a “domestic-related stabbing.”

Troopers found six people were involved in the incident. Two were flown to area hospitals and three others were taken by ambulance. One person was treated on scene and released.

Fayette County District Attorney Michael Aubele said Richard Hall entered the home of his in-laws uninvited and began stabbing his estranged wife in the chest.

Aubele said the couple’s 11-year-old daughter intervened, throwing herself on top of her mother to protect her.

“This 11-year-old girl threw herself on top of her mother and probably prevented her from being killed,” Aubele said. “It’s not the first time she’s protected her mother from this man. I can’t say enough about what she did.”

Police said Hall stabbed the girl in her arm during the attack.

According to the District Attorney, Hall also stabbed his mother-in-law and beat his father-in-law. All four victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.

“There’s absolutely no excuse for what happened yesterday, regardless of what issues you have in your marriage,” Aubele said. “It’s not an excuse to stab four people.”

Hall remains hospitalized for his own injuries.

Once released, he faces several charges, including attempted criminal homicide, three counts of aggravated assault and harassment.
