McKEESPORT, Pa. — A community is mourning the loss of a man who was killed in a shooting Friday night in McKeesport.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 60-year-old Brandon Barley.Police responded to the shooting about 9 p.m. Friday on Pope Alley, near Jenny Lind Street, where Barley was found with at least one gunshot wound.
Barley was pronounced dead at the scene.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined.
Those who knew Barley said he was the kind of friend and neighbor whom people felt they could always count on.
“He was a plumber. This was his best time of the year. If people's pipes were freezing and they needed help and you didn't have the money, Brandon would fix it and tell them, ‘You can pay me later. Don't worry about it,’” said one of his closest friends since childhood.
Witnesses told police that two men were seen fleeing the area in a dark sedan.
