7 men plead guilty to felony robbery charges from 2023 rest stop burglaries

A group of seven men has pleaded guilty to charges that stem from robberies along Pennsylvania highway rest stops in 2023.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office says all members of the robbery group pleaded guilty to five counts of third-degree felony robbery on Monday, the same week they were set to go to trial.

The men targeted truckers and other drivers at rest stops on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and other highways in Somerset, Westmoreland and Dauphin counties.

No one was ever hurt in the distraction-style robberies, but thousands of dollars in cash, jewlery and other belongings were taken.

“This group conspired in a series of brazen robberies that endangered motorists targeted at random,” Attorney General Sunday said. “The fine investigative work from our partners with the state police led to these appropriate plea resolutions.”

Each man was sentenced to at least three months in prison, followed by parole.
