PITTSBURGH — The Steelers are hitting the road this Sunday to face the New England Patriots, and they’re hoping some of the struggles from Week One do not come with them.
The offense wants to take another step forward coming into this week.
Head coach Mike McCarthy is really emphasizing 3rd downs as an area of the game they struggled in during their win over Atlanta.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers said there’s more to the story.
He noted multiple missed calls from the officials on passes to both Roman Wilson and DK Metcalf that would’ve sustained drives.
He added that if one or two of those go, we’re having an entirely different conversation.
The quarterback also isn’t worried about Metcalf’s drops as they prepare for the Patriots. Rodgers knows Mike Vrabel is going to throw a lot his way, but says they’re ready for anything.
“I have seen a lot of books, so there’s not a whole lot that they can give me, but you spend a lot of time during the week on the pressure package, and you go into a game like last week, and they barely pressure. That’s kind of the standard. But Mike has been more of a pressure guy. they pressure us more last year than most teams, so we’ll expect pressure,” Rodgers said.
Joey Porter Jr. was once again listed as a limited participant today on the team’s injury report.
However, his injury designation was changed to non-injury-related and conditioning.
