AI infrastructure firm Axe Compute is leaving Pittsburgh for Miami, capping off a year-long saga of transformation for the company.
Last year, the business was operating as Predictive Oncology, a long-standing biotech startup working to leverage AI for oncological drug discovery. The company began working increasingly with AI compute to diversify its holdings, giving it the ability to utilize compute as needed or exchange with other AI companies, and it rebranded to Axe at the end of the year.
Axe (NASDAQ: AGPU) recently completely shed its biotech roots, selling off its cancer diagnostics efforts, subsidiary Helomics Corp., to Tampa-based DataMeds AI, telling the United States Securities and Exchange Commission that Helomics “was the final operating business remaining from the company’s former identity as Predictive.” Now, just two weeks after ringing the opening bell at the Nasdaq stock exchange, Axe is moving to Miami.
