Alert neighbor helps police nab home burglary suspect in Point Breeze

POINT BREEZE, Pa. — An alert neighbor is being credited with helping police make a quick arrest in a home burglary in Point Breeze Monday.

Investigators said a neighbor walking on Penn Avenue noticed someone breaking into an apartment through a window and called 911.

Officers said when they showed up, the burglar was running out of the home carrying a pillow case filled with electronics.

"They ran him down over here and ya know, it looks like they Tased him," said witness Akil Esoon. "His equilibrium was really messed up and they cuffed him and took him off."

As he was running away, police said he dropped an Xbox and alcohol stolen from the apartment.

Police said if it wasn't for the neighbor who called police, the burglar would likely have never been caught.

"What a moron. Neighbors stick together. The police are here all the time. You can stand here every five minutes and flag a Pittsburgh police officer down," Esoon said.

The burglar's name has not been released.
