PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County is looking for a new chief medical examiner after a sudden departure.

A county spokesperson tells us that Dr. Ariel Goldschmidt is no longer an employee of Allegheny County.

Goldschmidt had been working in the office since 2021 and was named the chief medical examiner in 2024.

Officials have not given a reason for the decision.

We’re told Dr. Ashton Ennis is now serving as interim chief.
