ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — While Sunday’s winter weather advisory may be over, the snow isn’t going anywhere, and more is expected Monday afternoon.
Allegheny County Public Works has 25 salt trucks working to clear roads from Sunday’s snow, and preparing for the extra 1-2 inches tomorrow.
There is a stark difference between side streets and main roads right now in the area. Side streets were quickly snow covered as snow started to fall on Sunday. Most main roads remained clear throughout, but stayed wet, with air and pavement temperatures below freezing.
Despite the county’s effort on county maintained roads, some residents are growing frustrated with shoveling sidewalks and driveways, and they are ready for winter to end.
“It really sucks,” said Brian McCullough, as he was shoveling his sidewalk. “I’m over it. I’m ready for spring”
Allegheny County Public Works officials are urging residents to be careful, and watch out for slick spots on the roadways. They say to give yourself extra time to get where you’re going, and to avoid sudden stops.
