PITTSBURGH — A high school senior accused in a brutal fight caught on camera inside Brashear High School appeared in court Monday.

The preliminary hearing for Quincey Garland, 18, was continued to March 10. The student had nothing to say leaving the courtroom, accompanied by two women and his public defender.

Garland is charged with aggravated assault for his alleged role in the attack. On video, the 17-year-old victim is seen being restrained, body slammed, and stomped on. He appeared lifeless before being rushed to the hospital, where he survived.

Garland is not in custody after posting bail; court records show his bond was set at $50,000.

The victim’s family members told Channel 11 that Garland had injured the victim previously. They claim school leaders promised action, but nothing ever occurred. The school’s principal has been placed on leave.
