The American Lung Association released its State of the Air Report.
The report reveals changes to state air quality in counties and metro areas since last year’s report, and the impact air pollution has on health.
The report found that measures for the Pittsburgh metro area worsened for 24-hour and year-round particle pollution, according to a news release from the association. However, the area posted its best values ever for ozone smog under the current EPA standard, going from an ‘F’ to a ‘C.’
The 12-county Pittsburgh/New Castle/Weirton metro area continues to rank among the worst 25 metro areas in the country for both short-term and year-round particle but improved for ozone pollution, receiving its first overall passing mark of ‘C.’
