Arrest made in 2014 slaying of Pittsburgh man

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Homicide Squad, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested and charged a man Tuesday in the 2014 slaying of Leonard Young.

Young, 33, was found fatally shot in a vehicle in a parking lot at the Mount Arafat Church at the intersection of Paulson Avenue and Mayflower Street in the city’s Larimer neighborhood on April 18, 2014.

Authorities arrested Justin Bonner, 18, without incident in connection with Young’s death around 8 a.m. at a home in the West End section of Pittsburgh.

In an alleged taped confession, Bonner said he didn’t pull the trigger but admitted to being at the scene with another person.

Pittsburgh police spokesperson Sonya Toler said the investigation isn’t over, although police are glad to have arrested Bonner.

“This is a suspect we had in our sights for some time,” she said.

Police said the shooting was caught on security cameras from a nearby church.
