INDIANA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Indiana Township police have issued an unusual BOLO. They’re asking residents to be on the lookout for an alligator that has been spotted twice in the past few weeks.
Sgt. Tim Michael said the alligator has been seen in the Rural Ridge neighborhood, most recently on Tuesday in a Little Deer Creek Road resident's backyard.
The only other sighting came from a passing driver who saw the gator on Crawford Run Road on Aug. 10 near Little Deer Creek.
Michael said officials from both the Animal Rescue League Wildlife Center in Penn Hills and the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium have offered to take the alligator, but police must catch it first.
One report indicated the reptile may be about 3 feet long, but police aren't certain of the size. Michael said no police officers have seen the alligator.
