CORAOPOLIS, Pa. — The body of a 73-year-old man was pulled from the lake late Thursday afternoon at the Montour Heights Country Club’s golf course, police said.

Officers said they were called to the golf course around 4 p.m. and discovered an abandoned golf cart, in addition to evidence that a golfer was missing and possibly drowned.

"Apparently there was a golf cart there, and there was a hat floating on the lake in front of the golf cart. Also, the car keys for the gentleman who was driving the golf cart were in the golf cart and his cellphone was there as well,” Moon Township Police Chief Leo McCarthy said.

The dive team from the Crescent Township Fire Company recovered a body from the golf course’s lake around 5:30 p.m., police said.

Police confirmed the body on Friday as that of Dr. In O. Ryoo.

According to Ohio Valley Hospital's website, Ryoo was a pediatrician at the hospital, where he worked for nearly 40 years. He also ran his own practice, with offices in Kennedy and Moon townships.

Those who knew him said he was loved and well-respected.

“(You) couldn't ask for a nicer guy. Being in the neighborhood, if our kids were maybe sick on the weekend, we would call him up, and (he’d say,) ‘Yeah, just bring them up,’” Leroy Rugg said.

Police said there was no evidence of foul play.

The autopsy revealed that Ryoo did not drown and that his cause of death was atherosclerosis, a disease in which plaque builds up inside the arteries. His manner of death was ruled natural.

"What a loss for the neighborhood and for his practice,” Rugg said.

Ryoo’s employees told Channel 11 that his patients are being referred them to another doctor in Moon. They said they’re not sure yet about a long-term plan.
