PITTSBURGH — The 44-year-old man shot and killed inside a barbershop in Marshall-Shadeland Saturday night has been identified as Lamar Thomas, and police said the incident wasn’t a random shooting.
The shooting unfolded just after 6 p.m. inside Thomas' barbershop along Stayton Street. Police said a struggle broke out between Thomas and the suspect, and Thomas was shot in the head.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene just after 6 p.m.
Channel 11's Jennifer Borrasso talked to the victim's mother-in-law, who said Thomas and his wife Sabrina were married for just over a year. Thomas also had twin boys.
Sheril Massie, Thomas’ mother-in-law, told Channel 11 she is distraught and in shock over the shooting.
"My son-in-law was a good guy,” she said. “He was always there for my daughter and kids, his two boys. I just can't see why this happened to him."
Larry Scirotto, the major crimes commander for Pittsburgh Police, told Channel 11 police are reviewing surveillance video from inside the store and from other businesses in the area.
“There was no sign of a robbery,” he said. “There was a sign of a struggle and that’s pretty much the extent of the crime scene.”
Channel 11 also talked to barbershop customer Lindsey Chenault, who saw Thomas yesterday.
“He was very friendly and kind to the community,” he said. “It’s tragic what happened to him.”
A vigil was held for Thomas Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
His wife said the family will be closing the barbershop.
"I think this shop is going to bring back such bad memories that she's just going to let it go," said Terrchell Little, Thomas' stepdaughter.
Police are already conducting interviews, and Massie is urging the shooter to come forward.
“It wasn’t mean to happen to him,” she said. “We just want to know who did it and come forward.”
Police have urged anyone with information to contact them. There currently are no suspects.
