Authorities said the incident started as a large fight in the street.

The medical examiner identified the victim as Carlos Clark.

“It’s never going to be a merry Christmas,” said Carol Patterson.

Patterson lost her 22-year-old son to gun violence two weeks prior to Thursday’s shooting. She wanted to show support for another family dealing with the same kind of loss.

“I would like to give her a hug to tell her I know what she is going through,” Patterson said.

Many of Clark’s friends remembered him on the “Stop the Violence, Embrace Life” Facebook page.

One woman simply wrote, “This hurts my heart.”

Another person wrote, “I didn’t know you, but you, your family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.”

While statistics show homicides are rare in the Garfield neighborhood, it’s little comfort for a family searching for answers.

Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler said police do not have any suspects at this time.

However, a vehicle that was seen fleeing the area has been located in Highland Park on Heths Ave., police said.

No additional information was immediately available. The investigation is ongoing.
