CANONSBURG, Pa. — Canonsburg Educational and Cultural Institute announced today that Scarmazzi Homes has made a deal to become the founding naming sponsor of the new Canon Theatre in Canonsburg.
Earlier this summer, CECI announced plans to develop the Canon Theatre, a redesigned version of the former auditorium at Canonsburg Middle School, scheduled to open this fall. Scarmazzi Homes, a Canonsburg-based new home builder, will invest in 15 years in the venue’s naming rights, further boosting the venue’s progress.
“My wife and I love our hometown, and supporting the Canon Theatre is simply our way of giving back to the community,” said Paul Scarmazzi, owner of Scarmazzi Homes and vice president of the CECI board of directors. “When we considered this opportunity, we saw it as an investment not only in a theatre, but in the future of Canonsburg.”
The Canon Theatre project is expected to transform the historic 1931 auditorium into a premier performing arts and community venue. According to CECI, the theatre will host a diverse range of live performances, community events, educational programming, and cultural experiences.
