PITTSBURGH — Two people are facing charges after a bullet nearly hit a woman who was inside her Bloomfield home Saturday evening.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, shots rang out on the rear of Cabinet Way. One of those bullets struck the back wall of a home on Howley Street. A 9mm slug came through the wall and narrowly hot a woman in an upstairs bedroom.
According to police, the woman was hit with debris but not injured.
One neighbor told Channel 11 that she was shaken by the gunshots, which she said she hears almost every night.
"I hear gunshots, and I don't know if it’s gunshots, firecrackers, ya know? Soon as I hear it, I hit the floor," said Sandy Dietz.
Dietz said she wants to stay in Bloomfield, since she grew up here, remembering quiet, peaceful streets. Now though, she claims it’s gotten so bad that she is looking to move.
"This is a very bad neighborhood. They break windows in the cars. Kids coming through,” Dietz said.
A shots fired 911 call Saturday sent Pittsburgh police officers to the scene, and they were able to catch two suspects.
Rayco Cavon Saunders, 21, of the city’s Hill District, is now facing gun and drug charges. His17-year-old brother was also arrested and is facing similar charges.
Dietz said she doesn’t know who called 911, but she told Channel 11 that it was likely a neighbor who belongs to the block watch group.
"(There’s) good neighbors around here, and we all look out for each other, ya know, we have to,” said Dietz.
