Holding back tears, retired Harmony Township Volunteer Fire Chief Neal Nanna talked about the two brothers he lost overnight -- both dying within hours of each other.

Mark Nanna, 56, retired chief with the Cranberry Township Fire Department, died from complications from an infection. After hearing the news, the family says his older brother, Lee Nanna, 69, had a heart attack and died.

“He died from a broken heart,” Neal Nanna said.

The Nanna name is synonymous with public service -- you’re looking at three generations of firefighters, EMS workers and 911 dispatchers, and this is just a handful of the family that has served our Butler County community for 30-plus years.
