PITTSBURGH — Rescuers pulled a man from the water near the Roberto Clemente Bridge in Pittsburgh just after midnight on Monday.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the bridge after receiving reports of a person in the water. Units from the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS, River Rescue, Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police all responded to the scene, where they located the man along the river wall.
Prior to the arrival of emergency crews, a bystander assisted the man by extending a tree branch for him to hold onto along the river wall.
River Rescue arrived shortly after and threw the man a personal flotation device. Rescuers then pulled him onto their boat, where EMS divers evaluated him before bringing him to shore. He was then transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
