Car crashes into building outside Pittsburgh

ETNA, Pa. — Investigators confirm to Channel 11 News that a car crashed into a building Thursday morning in Etna.

According to investigators, the accident happened in the 400-block of Butler Street.

A fire official told Channel 11's Jennifer Tomazic that an older man had a medical condition while he was driving in the right lane. He then went into the left lane and hit another car.

The man who suffered the medical condition then crashed into the Duquesne Electrict building.

“From what a bystander said, it went around a car, swerved, clipped the front end of a passing sedan over there and then struck the building,” said Etna second Lt. Bill Cummings.

Tomazic reported that the man was taken to an area hospital by ambulance.

Cummings said the crash was not weather-related.

“The officer that was first on the scene believes it was a medical condition that caused the accident,” Cummings said.
